While I can appreciate your sincerity Bob, I believe the problem that most people like yourself fall into is the notion that someone that could create this universe as it is, would be completely enraptured by the human race. I think you tend to humanize God. I see a much bigger God of the universe then you undoubtably see. I see a God that has created a world that is so vast that we humans that occupy it can't begin to imagine it's vastness. I see a God that has set in motions laws of the universe that work like clockwork including 'survival of the fittest'. If you don't believe that, take a little time to see how the world really works by studying nature. Jesus may indeed be the Son of God but I also see what is before me and that I cannot deny. Some people also believe that 'God' personally intervenes in the affairs of man, and I just can't buy it. To use an illustration, a ship, the U.S.S. Indianapolis was sunk by a Japanese sub at the end of the war. I can say with complete confidence that all of those aboard that survived to go into that dark ocean prayed to God to be saved. Yet, most were not. Did God care for the prayers of the few and neglect the rest? No, common sense tells me that the one's who survived, did so because of luck, will to live, stronger constitution or any combination of factors. I believe that there is a creator behind life and what shape that creator takes, I cannot say for sure. But this I can say, neither you or anyone else knows anymore than the next person, although your faith in a God of your choosing may convince you otherwise. Have a lovely day.
