Subject: Must Be Keep Above Water to Restore the BALTIMORE

Message Detail:
Bob,

Thanks for the update on BALTIMORE'S situation. Are you aware if the tug's owners/stewards/trustees/museum docents have zeroed in, as in focused on a plan to replace some of her frames (hull rib supports) and decking supports abaft of the fiddly?

History shows that old tugs with conditions similar to ST BALTIMORE have had their sterns simply break off at or near the point where the bow and stern slopes bottom out.

Expecting "to get her stack returned to the historic charcoal black with the letters "HB" for Harbor Board bolted to opposite sides of the top [and having the anticipated] Major work... for the [red-lined?] engine room" seem somewhat secondary to the integrity of the hull wouldn't you think?

Then again, when a group of docents have difficulty with and suffer pain trying to understanding why the owners of such a Port of Baltimore treasure, I suppose dolling up the funnel and polishing engine room brass could take minds off of a ticking time bomb. The owners could wake up and de-fuze it you know.

Will those responsible act in the best interest of their entrusted artifact in time to keep the tug's smoke stack from becoming one of the scattered stand-alone exhibits should BALTIMORE be salvaged from the bottom?
