Subject: Music Genre Question

Message Detail:
Watching a story about Atlantic Records, I believe it was Jerry Wexler who warned that Soul music was on its way out, about the latter 60's. After, Atlantic took on more white artists/groups. Same with Motown. My question, what do you think caused this shift? Maybe small record labels were being bought by larger ones just to lessen competition?

Also, I like all kinds of Pop music, maybe up to mid 80's, when too much electronic sound, such as drum machines, gained popularity. However, it's really tough to find others who have similar tastes, as most everyone stays within 50's and/or 60's. I just find it odd. Any thoughts?
