I agree with you. The technology and talent when put together and entered into the format in the right way can make an oldies station stand out.

Unfortunately as you said, the program directors and general managers of today just don't get it and don't want to. They are so driven by research and demographics that are over used in my opinion.

When WCBS FM was an oldies station, they were the most successful in the industry for years and they did not have all this research. They knew how to talk to New York, the biggest radio market in America and they played more than 300 songs. It can be done today.
