The 'chatter' on that tune WAS in the original version on radio as I recall.

This situation may be an example of the old 'alternate take' scenario. Seems when many of these masters went on CD for the first time...alternate takes or even re-mixes of the originals were used.

Why?

Probably as many different reasons as there are songs.
