Subject: RE: LONG Awaited Answer For Jim Liddane |
|
Thanks Bob for that clarification. 16 is a very logical age to pick - in my ignorance when I was a PD, I guess-worked a 12-20 span, so my error gave me four more years back in time to work with. Thus in 1989, I was still programming 1956 music, whereas if I had taken 16 as the correct age, I would have started with 1960. That was then of course, and this is now, so I guess, I currently would be dropping anything prior to 1978. No Elvis, no 4 Seasons, no Beachboys, no Beatles - come to think of it - that is exactly how my old station sounds nowadays - so they have it dead right! Still, it is a pity that some of the really great classics have disappeared, seemingly for good. My daughter (in her earty 20's) is a rabid Beatles fan, and can recognise Jackie Wilson at 40 paces (which is more than I can), which goes to prove that when exposed to good music of whatever era, all generations can appreciate it. Luckily, Ultimate Oldies is there keeping it all alive. Long may it reign! |
