Thanks Bob for that clarification.

16 is a very logical age to pick - in my ignorance when I was a PD, I guess-worked a 12-20 span, so my error gave me four more years back in time to work with.

Thus in 1989, I was still programming 1956 music, whereas if I had taken 16 as the correct age, I would have started with 1960.

That was then of course, and this is now, so I guess, I currently would be dropping anything prior to 1978.

No Elvis, no 4 Seasons, no Beachboys, no Beatles - come to think of it - that is exactly how my old station sounds nowadays - so they have it dead right!

Still, it is a pity that some of the really great classics have disappeared, seemingly for good.

My daughter (in her earty 20's) is a rabid Beatles fan, and can recognise Jackie Wilson at 40 paces (which is more than I can), which goes to prove that when exposed to good music of whatever era, all generations can appreciate it.

Luckily, Ultimate Oldies is there keeping it all alive.
