My computer was in the shop for several days, so am just now able to reply. Thanks much for this follow-up. Given what you have laid out and what is generally known about comms from Maryland Heights to Hooker's Fairfax HQ in June 1863, would you care to venture an opinion on the route an alert to Hooker that Lee's army was crossing the Potomac would have taken using both flag and wire, and approximately how long it would have taken to receive that message at Fairfax?
