Subject: RE: Cipher disk

Message Detail:
Dave, another question on this subject, if I may. What is the connection, if any, of the CSA disk to the Court Cipher. For example, if I understand correctly, the Court Cipher is applied with a key word to encrypt a message by using the letter that is found through the vertical and horizontal search of each letter of the keyword and of the message respectively. In other words, you go across the top and down the side of the cipher to find the letter that is used in the encrypted message. Does the use of the disk aid this process or speed it up in any way? If not, what is the purpose of the disk?
