Subject: Signal Corps insignia

Message Detail:
In Rebecca Raines book on the SC, there is an insignia on the first inside page. Is that the current SC insignia, and is there an explanation of what it signifies published somewhere? So far, I have not come across a description in the book itself.
Some questions include the exact meaning of Pro Patria Vigilans, what does the hand and lightning bolts signify, etc. Assume the eagle claws are holding an olive leaf an arrows to mean in peace and war, and the star in the shield is the "battle star." Any further explanation will be appreciated. Tom
