Subject: RE: Telegraph lines during CW

Message Detail:
Ray, Plum says the wires ran from Washington via Poolesville to Point of Rocks and on to Frederick and then three miles to the tollgate. Other lines followed the B&O RR to Frederick. Evidently the lines did not go as far as the mountain gaps in question. So it appears the SC stations on South Mountain would have had to use a combination of flag and telegraph to send msgs to Hooker's HQ.

Thanks for your reply.

Tom
