Subject: RE: SIGNAL MEN ENTERTAIN!

Message Detail:
Walt,
I enjoyed reading the post very much. It reminded me of a newspaper article from a Providence, RI newspaper I believe, of the Veteran Signal Corps Assoc. gathtering in August of 1880. Gen. Myer had passed on about four days before the meeting started in Buffalo, NY. If my memory serves me correctly, I think Benjamin F. Fisher was President at that time. There was mention of the veterans signalling each other using their CW skils from one boat to another. The meeting I believe was on an off shore island a very short distance from landfall.

It must have been a costly matter traveling to such an event and then staying at a hotel for several days. Those persons who had to travel from either coast or even mid-country had some very long rides.

I wonder who James Kelly was from Albany, NY and if that was his original home at the time of entry into the service.

Very interesting post. Thanks,
73,
Ray
