Subject: Period Kites, Reply Concern'g

Message Detail:
Brenda,

We know that kites were provided to some signal stations and were used by land and naval forces on both sides. There are even accounts saying that lanterns were hoisted aloft by kites.

You may wish to consult folks familiar with line drawings seen in period children's books. Drusilla's Books in Baltimore specializes in nineteenth century ephemera and books geared toward children. Her number is 410-225-0277.

We'd appreciate knowing if you come up with any good illustrations along with your documentation.

If you type in Kite within the search feature at the bottom of this page I'm sure you'll find more on the subject.

Tnx Agn for contacting us.
