Subject: Readying For Steam Up Again on the Chesapeake |
|
Hi Wally, You should have seen Steve Heaver when BALTIMORE was high and dry in the shipyard. He was something to behold. Talk about someone with his finger on the pulse... Steve was the man. He was all over that tugboat everyday for days on end. Not only was he co-ordinating the placement of temporary hull plating but he was also adjusting the amounts of funds to be shifted to new work projects as the anticipated work on the various parts of the vessel became visibly un-necessary. I hope he'll come on the forum and mention more than a few of the things that happened during the time BALTIMORE was drydocked and what it took to get her out and over to her pier once more. Since last we conversed, Steam Tug BALTIMORE has been named as the offical flagship of the Port of Baltimore's Tricentennial Celebrations and we are beginning to see the media getting out the word to those who didn't know that we exist. This is beginning to be good times for us and we hope it will also serve as a fire bell to those who wish to save a very significant piece of their heritage. Here am I, send me. Best Regards. |
