Ahoy Concerned: You seem to have your finger on the pulse even more so than some of >the crew<. And... if I didn't know better, you have also picked up on some of the wordage I use to describe what I perceive current conditions to be with the last remaining hand-fired, coal-burning steam tugboat left operational (despite its weakened hull suppports) in all of North America. Hem... you can quote me on that too. It's interesting. Somehow I didn't realize that anyone outside of the immediately concerned mourners-in-waiting and hand wringing crew were... well, you know -- concerned. Today, I practically get any and all of my scuttlebutt from the few remaining members of the volunteer crew or 'independent' docents (as you call them) who align themselves with the Tug Baltimore's current stewards. You'd think they'd want to show up here on this forum to voice their hopes and concerns, but, if showing up on the tug now and then is all we can expect - that is definitely still a good thing. I'm sorry to say that what little information I do get about the future of the Port of Baltimore's Tricentennial flagship and National Historic Landmark has slowed to a trickle. And the tug crew picnic you refer to? Hurricane Irene put the breaks on having it last Sunday. Furthermore, no one from the crew will be aboard the ST BALTIMORE this Saturday because the Baltimore Museum of Industry announced it will be closed due to a special event outside its front door on Key Highway.
