Sorry to hear about the maritime preservation group going under. It takes lots of dedication to keep group members and their supporters in the loop, pumped up and ever out there mentioning the group and its project all the time.

The other thing I should add is that individuals in any group really need to be able to take stock in their project so that they can feel a sense of ownership. Once they can buy in to the effort there have to be some short and long-term goals to work toward.

As Admiral Nelson once said: "Men and ships in port both rot" Even if a vessel is no longer seaworthy she can still serve as a centerpiece for other maritime endeavors.

The most critical thing I can say is to not let our minds stay in port - even if we never leave it.
