Subject: Changes to be Made to Steamboat CAMBRIDGE |
|
Abby, More info on the Chesapeake Bay Steamboat CAMBRIDGE Walt Capt. Willard Thomson, general agent of the Baltimore, Chesapeake and Atlantic Railway Company, has had plans made for the changing of the steamer CAMBRIDGE from a night to a day boat. The CAMBRIDGE will have all her staterooms removed to give greater saloon accommodations. The saloon deck will be fitted with private parlors, retiring rooms, smoking parlors and barber shop. The dining-room will be placed aft of the companionway and will be enlarged. The kitchen and pantry will be placed aft of the dining-room. The hurricane-deck plan will also be changed so as to allow passengers to use it for promenade purposes. A grand stairway will lead from the saloon-deck to the hurricane-deck. The officers' quarters will be placed aft of the pilot-house. The changes will give the steamer a capacity of 1000 passengers. She will run between Baltimore and Claiborne. [Balto. Sun - Dec. 21st. 1894]
