Subject: Upcom'g Event Alerts - Qstns Concern'g |
|
It has been brought to our attention that the button mark'd Events Schedule doesn't currently reflect a current listing of up-coming "Calendar of Events for 2008 near and far, [for] Steam Tug Baltimore Group's Education Exhibits Appearances". It does, and has for sometime now, been a place to announce the group's past events. The images from these past events are great and give an idea of what we've enjoyed or, in some cases, missed out on by not attending. Past events are history while upcoming events are challenges. Many realize that the Baltimore Group's mission is preserving the history of the past and that of conserving/maintaining the actual artifacts. But if a few of the side-bar chess pieces buttons be shifted around to point forward instead of abaft it WOULD alert us all of what might be done and give opportunities for participation? Is there a possibility that the web sites Events Schedule page can be re-worked to show up-coming events such as the 42nd Fells Point Fun Festival to be held on October 4-5 2008? Got any training sessions for qualifying deck hands, pilots, coal heavers or engineers? What about knot tying demonstrations, harbor history talks, what's been recently uncovered or sent in to the archives that would be exciting for folks to learn about? What about scheduling an upcoming open-house to give potential supporters a glimpse of what is happening with the Steam Tug Baltimore Group's Education Exhibits and speak about past and upcoming Appearances, in port and away? Case-in-Point --- The data at the How-to-Help info page could be combined with the mission page making room to perhaps keep the Past Events image pages available albeit preferably just below a Event Schedule page re-named as Upcoming Events. In order to attract potential volunteers, it might be good to tell them what is going to happen along with what has already taken place. Hence they might be able to carve out some time, come out, and help man an exhibit. I hope you'll agree that generating interest can begin right here. If text or image content is added to the main site pages, please let it be reflected in the welcome page marquee. Would you be reading this schtuff if you weren't interested? Thanks again to all who devote their time, creativity and effort that make this web adventure a truly superb gateway to Steam Tug BALTIMORE, Federal Hill shipbuilding and Chesapeake Bay Maritime Forum discussions possible. Please consider contributing your thoughts on this topic by stroking in a few lines of cyber-text. "Prepare to get underway!" |
