Subject: Tug Now Has Three Groups Help'g |
|
Bob, As the fabulously done 2008 Tugfest Event poster sez: ALL FREE - ALL DAY !!! That's a great come-on. Sounds like the three groups associated with the Steam Tug BALTIMORE have been blessed with a generous philanthropist or two. If so, that would be great too. Speaking of the three groups: I know of the Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI), who, since 1981 has been charged with the preservation and maintenance of the tug, designated a National Historic Landmark back in 1993. And there's the Baltimore & Chesapeake Steamboat Company, the newer non-profit originally formed by an agreement by the BMI and a few of its volunteers in hopes that the B&CSC would have take over ownership of the vessel - but B&CSC is today considered to be a 'friend's group' by its current board of directors. Can you tell us more about the third group mentioned across the top of the 2008 Tugfest poster and also found amongst other recent tug related material? As the handful of folks, often referred to as the crew, have historically been either volunteers of BMI or members of the friend's group B&CSC, who and what might the Tug Baltimore Group be? What might you see the TBG role to be? What are their goals?
