Subject: BALTIMORE'S 100th Celebrations - A Reprize |
|
To: Robt E. Pratt President Baltimore & Chesapeake Steamboat Co. Ahoy Bob! Exactly one year has passed since the October 20-21-22 anniversary tribute to a grand old lady began. On this one-year anniversary of that event I just wanted to say thanks a million to you and others for capturing such great images of the 1906 ST BALTIMORE'S 100th birthday observance last October. What a reflection of a grand event! The 29 tugboats in convoy parade with the 1902 Tug JUPITER and Maryland pilot boat PATAPSCO at the point, the operating live-steam models, the riveting expos, an actual side-wheeler, the Naval Academy's squadron of YP's and the Reserve Center's LCM, the moving presentation by Brian McAllister, awards by Baltimore's 300th's Anniversary Chairwoman Helen Bentley, Governor Bob Ehrich Tug BALTIMORE Day proclamation and Steve Loveless' Steamship Historical Society's award at the Friday night gala; these and many other contributions made it all worthwhile. These images will far outlive even remembrances of all of the months of hard work you and many others contributed to the success of Tug BALTIMORE'S 'weekend in the Sun' but I for one will always recount what so few accomplished that so many could then and can still enjoy the centennial cyber memories offered here at this web site. Very Best Regards, fair winds and following seas to you and all the selflessly tremendous volunteers,
