Subject: Chesapeake Marine Railway Co History

Message Detail:
Hi I am interested in any info avail for this Co which was owned by my GGrandfather Emory Allan Craig (Emory was involved early in his career as secretary and treasure to Capt R M Spedden Marine Railway and Co) and his son Allan James Craig. In Feb 1953 it was the source of an 18 alarm fire, 2 million in damages and spread over 16 blocks inland.
There is what has always been called a Captains Chair which I believe meaning the style of the chair as it has a metal number plate on the top of its back that has come down in my family that is to have been from the "Kaisier Wilhelm" (the II I am guessing) as the first Kaiser Wilhelm de Gross sunk. This is all I know about this chair and I am looking to find out what Company/Companies were involved in the salavage of the "Kaiser Whilhelm II" in 1940 Baltimore or to find interior photos of this ship and any information/history on my Families Shipyard. I am limited to the internet due to being out of state so any and all info is welcome and appreciated
Ann
