Subject: RE: Federal Hill Shipbuilding History @ BMI

Message Detail:
I am replying to an almost three year old post. I am a member of the Stafford Township Historical Society of Manahawkin, NJ. We are interested in obtaining photo documentation of the Ship Powhattan that was built for the Alexander & Sons Company. It may have been built by the John Robb shipyard in 1830s and was first registered in February 1837. And after a lifetime of service, the Powhattan sank in a terrible spring storm opposite our Long Beach Island, and with total loss of all aboard.

Does the museum possess pictorial documentation of any of the ships built in the Baltimore shipyards or is there a better source to explore? We have squeezed the Maryland Historical and Chesapeake Bay Museums of their information and are looking for supplementary resources.

Thanks in advance.
