This is beyond our scope of coverage but we wish them well in their time of need. Sent: Friday, July 11, 2008 1:58:59 PM TugBitts regional editor Jon Johansen just phoned me that Washburn & Doughty suffered a "catastrophic" fire at its facility in E. Boothbay. Maine. Destroyed were two Moran tugs under construction and the fate of a third tug afloat at the pier is unknown. We understand at the moment that the LAURA K. MORAN, a 121-foot ATB tug, was at the float, and another ATB tug and a 92-foot tug due to be launched this summer plus the keel of a 98-foot tug were in the building shed.
