Bob, First of all...my initial response to you was a 'play on words'. It was meant as a chuckle and not to insult. Today's terrestrial news and talk stations don't play songs and thus don't pay royalties. If radio stations didn't play the songs, or TV air the videos, the artists wouldn't sell anywhere as many records, much less collect royalties from the outlets who are promoting them. Stations agreed decades ago to start paying royalties when they realized that they could make ad dollars off of their station's music entertainment. I think you'll agree that most internet radio stations are run by hobbyists who aren't interested in making money, but rather enjoy offering folks something they like to listen to. As far as the licensing thing goes, we'll see where it all ends up.
