My collection begins in 1948 and ends abruptly at 1969. I have some first release 45rpm's that some collectors would die for, and no, they are not for sale. Number of songs in the collection, probably about 30,000. Isn't that amazing, and it doesn't even touch on all the tunes that have been recorded. Music is part of our lives. My special love is collecting rare radio station copies of tunes that never got played. Some of them are real jewels. I also collect certain rarities from the Civil Rights Era, the early sixties. I am always amazed by some of the racist "stuff", can't really call it music, that was pressed by small southern indies. Some of it even got air-play. Doo Wop is another love of mine. I have a huge collection of it and follow some of the groups currently performing. It is a genre that has never died, just slowed up a bit, but is still great music. You know I love the oldies, heck, I am one. Why do I broadcast! It's simple. I'm keeping the music I know and love alive for thousands of others that remember it also, You would had to have been there to understand. |
