John, Dick Bartley is still producing syndicated programs to my knowledge and continues being heard in markets across the USA. Mr. Bartley called me when I was managing a station a few years back and we talked about adding one of his shows, but (ironically) we were live staffed 24/7 and were more interested in live and local relevance. Great guy and a stellar talent! Bob Pantano in my opinion is one of the best oldies music programmers I've ever heard...because he knows his audience (Philly/Jersey Shore crowd) and plays what they want to hear. Many a night I'd drive from Wildwood to Baltimore and listen to him on WOGL with the Saturday Night Dance Party. Loved it. He's always around somewhere between Philadelphia and the shore. When you meet him, shake his hand for me too. Jerry Blavat is an absolute legend, One of a kind. As far as his vinyl...well, maybe Nanci from South Philly can comment on that. She knows the Geator personally. Most jocks who stay with the business do have collections because the love of the music got them into radio in the first place. Great thread starter. Anyone else wanna comment? Bob |
