Subject: RE: Johnny Bristol - Hang On In There Baby

Message Detail:
I have a 45 of the song and while admittedly just guessing (the disc is packed away presently) I do believe the single is indeed 3:25. Not sure if I have ever heard the long version but not surprised if one exists, as around the summer and fall of '74 the difference between LP and radio edits of a given song became more pronounced as disco began to spread its tentacles over the charts.

The Bristol song was kind of a surprise within the music business at the time. The general public didn't know who Johnny Bristol was, yet those inside the industry always pegged the guy as an arranger, writer and producer. No one expected to hear Bristol SINGING a hit, as his work was to that point behind the scenes.

The only 'exception' to that being his backup work on the Supremes 'Someday We'll be Together'.

Nice arrangement and very fitting for the times when it made the charts.

Bob
