Subject: What DJ Can and Can't Say on the Air

Message Detail:
I understand about payola. However, are DJs allowed to mention record labels on the air, or would it open themselves to payola investigation? Also, can radio stations play record plugs (generated by the record label) for record companies? I have a "radio spot" for Bobby Vee, mentioning "Liberty Records". You never hear this sort of advertising on the air, so I guess it's bad news, these days.
