This is not aimed at you, Bob, but I have discovered DJs to be some of the most stubborn people. My advice, be the best you can be, and know what you play. I used to enjoy listening to DJs, such as Dick Bartley, during one or more of his syndicated radio shows. I also enjoy hearing radio interview excerpts from the artists to the record companies, rather than congesting commercials, prior to playing their song or songs. I listen to college/university stations, with abbreviated oldies shows, lasting about 3-4 hours, until the next week. I listen to corporate operated oldies stations, only to discover, after hours, they fill the airwaves with a couple young adults rambling on about anything they feel fit, and nothing to do with music or oldies. I listen to other stations, literally begging for donations to keep them going. It's sad. Again, be the expert in your field. Know the songs, artists, CDs, records, software, along with prompt listener attention. Anyone can play oldies all day. Why should they select you to listen to..... Best wishes, |
