Subject: Ultimate Oldies Radio - An Update

Message Detail:
Ultimate Oldies Radio is making major changes to its functionality and direction. I would like to update you regarding events of the last few weeks and share with you the plans for the near future.

Jimmy Williams and I met over coffee on a snowy afternoon in February 1999. During the conversation, he told me he built websites. I asked him if he would be interested in putting together one that promoted oldies. He said he would...and that's where this venture began.

We've had many twists and turns over the years. We enjoyed at one time a world wide ranking in the high 100,000's (out of more than 9 million websites). We have also experienced numerous times of being offline and functionality issues which have seen many of our supporters go away.

What amazes me are the people who still stop back, still ask about the site and want to see it continue and grow.

Also...I have yet to see any site in the world that delivers oldies exactly the way we do it. And that's why we hope this time around to 'rebuild the walls of Jerusalem' and make this site once again a place where lovers of the 50's and 60's can come and enjoy.

We are finally back on line, but it wasn't easy. After more than 10 years with the same hosting company, we have moved to a new host. The old company had an issue with the amount of space we were taking up with their storage.

We don't fault them for that...but what we did not understand was why they took us off line several weeks ago...without notifying us in a proper way...yet continued to take our money. We were told they had no intention of putting the site back on line unless we tripled our monthly payments to pay for the storage. They justified it by saying they were hosting our database and storage...even though they wouldn't put the site on line for others to enjoy,

So, we decided to look elsewhere.

Which leads me to a big thanks to Michael Krause. He owns a company called Shoutcast Unlimited. He provided the quality streams for a station I operated back in 2009, WEEL ('The Wheel') in Dothan, Alabama. He also found a host company uniquely qualified to administer Ultimate Oldies Radio.

Michael is now involved with further developing the site and has been of major assistance in getting us out of cyber limbo. We welcome him as a member of our team.

The new hosters have done a tremendous job in helping us move the site over. There were some unforeseen challenges at the outset and they kept at it until they got it right.

However, we are far from ready to roll. We also have to move a tremendous amount of music files over to the site. This takes time, as we are using a new approach which will use less bandwidth and take up less space on the host server. We've started this process. Then when that's completed, we need to scan every file and test to make sure the functionality is doing well.

It is understood that while our concept makes sense, our technological methods of delivery are a bit antiquated. We are working to change that.

Hope to have everything functioning well soon.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
