Since around the early 70s, (even before that) disc jockeys stopped IDing the songs they play (for the most part.) DJs used to clearly SAY what they played, often twice----before and after the song. And when they played an Oldie they told you what YEAR it was from. Can somebody please explain to me why did all that stop? Even on Oldies and so-called Classic Rock stations & whatever other sub-genres like that, DJs simply don't say what they play! I was listening to a very excellent aircheck on REELRADIO.com yesterday ---> Ron O'Brien on WCFL in Chicago, from November 1975. Highly enjoyable, except around 97% of the time Ron O'Brien didn't bother SAYING what he was playing! I always found this very disturbing. "Juke-Box radio"! I hate it. HOW CAN THEY DO (or NOT do) THAT??!! Isn't that the DJ's job? Any insights would be appreciated. |
