Subject: RE: Les Cooper's Wiggle Wobble |
|
I would certainly not think he would have pulled the name out of nowhere, but I wonder if things have got a bit blurred over the years? Les Cooper recorded two versions of WIGGLE WOBBLE, and the second one sounds like King Curtis, while Curtis has reecorded at least two versions solo as well. But in Marv's interview, Les Cooper says it is Joe Grier on the hit single, and if you listen to the 45rpm single, it does not sound all that much like King Curtis. Having said that, for years I used to play two Buddy Holly singles on air, praising Norman Petty's solo on "Think It Over" and Buddy's own solo on "It's So Easy" - only to be told (very politely) by Norman Petty in an interview, that I had both of them wrong. Since then, I am not too sure about anything anymore! Now if only we could talk to Les Cooper!
