My friend Mike once mentioned, what a shame they didn't have digital recording capabilities back in the '60's or before. In my mind, analog recording capabilities were very good, but wasn't good was the song ideas and compositions and engineers. Who could record "live" and achieve a hit? Not many. Overdubbing became the norm. Any chance for decent sounding Stereo was sometimes lost due to overdubbing. Advanced tape recorders, such as by Ampex, saved the (distorting) overdubbing days - audiophile LPs began to surface because of it. Anyway, this is a live "Daydream" recording by (John Sebastian &) The Lovin' Spoonful, about December 1965. It's documented as a Demo, but studio talk mentions a Take #6. Either way, what you could achieve as a live recording!..
"Thanks, John...sorry it took so long to answer (lost mail).Keep on Rollin'....JS" So nice!!! Best, |
