Was wondering if anyone could help me with this question: When I look at the Top 100 Songs for the Year from various years in the 50s and 60s - it looks like any song that was released in late November - early December does not make it in either year. Here are a couple of examples: I heard it through the Grapevine was #1 for 7 weeks in 1968 but it is not on The Top 100 for either 1968 or 1969. A couple other examples would be Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye by Steam in 1969, The Lion Sleeps Tonight by the Tokens, and Yesterday by The Beatles. Also, Daydream Believer was released in late 1967 and was #1 for 5 weeks but somehow is only #96 for the year. Was there anything every written about this? Thanks Kev |
