Re The Rivieras...that record (around 1964?) was a remake of a Joe Jones song from around 1959 (see link) and written by Henry Glover, who also wrote The Peppermint Twist for Joey Dee.

Ever hear the version by The Crickets? It is also very good, but I still think the Rivieras version is the best.
