I wasn't ignorant of the Kit Kats' reincarnation as New Hope, either. "Won't Find Better" got as high as #57 (Billboard) just about 37 years ago today, while "Let's Get Lost" merely bubbled under the Hot 100. Which is the better single? IMHO it's a tossup. "Lost" has a bit of a rough-around-the-edges quality production-wise that may seem more spontaneous and appealing, while "Better" is immaculately produced but mellower and almost somber--matter of fact, the vocals sound strangely like a church choir. But like "Lost" it contains some intriguing chord progressions. Actually, you know what my favorite part of the record is? The repeating downward piano glissandos in the middle instrumental break. I've never been able to get that out of my head. It was a jolt of fresh air in an otherwise rather bland single. Why oh why couldn't the rest of it have been more like that? Not exactly the best combination. Either way, "Won't Find Better" is an interesting record no matter how you look at it. J
