No, I really wanted to be a recording star, but lacked talent (although that was not necessarily a problem in the early days) and looks (and that was definitely a problem).

However, in order to stay in music and eat at the same time, I opened a recording studio, which did lead on to a small label (Menlo Records) which issued three or four singles around 1967/8.

However, by 1969, with none of the records selling, and the ISA taking up a lot of my time, I left Menlo, although they issued about another six pr so singles, before folding around 1973 or so.

If by being successful, you mean I did not starve - you are probably correct, as my current size would suggest.

Otherwise, the jury is still out on that one....
