Bob, too much to quote - Yes, Kahn!!! (AM Stereo). Thanks! My Sony Walkman (with AM Stereo) had a switch, for, I believe, (3) types of AM Stereo transmissions! Motorola was behind one. I guess, no one wanted to invest a lot money into competing, without having a good idea on return. FM Stereo had already taken over "music".Days Past: Yes, AM Stereo was pretty good, but seemed to require a strong signal. XM: Okay on XM; some time ago someone told me advertising was added in places. Radio is only as good (interesting) as the people are. In other words, anyone can play music. HD Radio: I have to assume radio stations like it, because of the added real-estate for adverting and shows. They went overboard at first, claiming better than CD Quality. Right. Heck, FM still beats it in propagation. CBS Radio (I watch their moves), has sports talk on HD-1 (WIP - once Classic Rock (WYSP)), HD-3 (talk), AM radio. It seems, they even decreased transmission power of the AM radio broadcast. Heck, WABC-AM (NY) is sometimes clearer in reception than KWY (Philly). I'm not saying HD Radio is a bad thing, but not every station offers it. It would be best to buy a receiver capable of both FM and HD, they do have them for cars. But, with the economy, who wants to replace everything. Days Current: I still listen to AM radio (car), but for news, mainly. But it's neat to hear stations clear across the country! Okay on WTTR's listenership. Thanks for the info and chat!!! Look me up if ever in NJ! Have a nice day! Best, John
