Subject: Commercial Radio - General

Message Detail:
From opinions of others, radio has turned reality TV, it's boring. It's like someone is behind the scene dictating what songs to play. It's too common for me to think otherwise - widespread. Granted, some stations make money from sales of CDs they play - via internet links an sort. I went to WMGK-FM 102.9 MHz, online, and found some nice tunes being played on the HD-2 channel. The person behind it, Nancy Palumbo, was kind enough to reply to my comments. Afterward, I sent an e-mail off to HD-1, Charley Lake, stating they should switch HD-1 and HD-2 around, HD-1 becomes too redundant. Heck, I even heard Mama Cass on their HD-2! 'MGK seems to have a large staff, I was surprised, but most is to generate revenue - advertising and such. One of their ads is for HD Radio sales - sort of funny, a person singing a mistaken lyrics to a song and the other claims he would be better off with a HD Radio for crystal clear sound. Like Rock music had great singers to begin with :)

I tuned to 105.7, WCHR (AKA The Hawk), and they played The Eagles "Heartache Tonight", boy, did it sound poor! They wish to compete with WMGK, but, I'd rather have WMGK, at least they play songs I know. Besides, Bob (our host here), I thought the FCC required station ID every hour, but WCHR just calls itself "The Hawk". My guess, they will fold, like CBS Radio's WYSP, 94.1 MHz, it turned sour, now Sports Talk, now more Rock music.

Anyway, if other have opinions of radio AM, FM, whatever, feel free to share, I'd like to hear from YOU!

Thank You!

Best,
John
