Alicia's song was indeed well produced. One of those tunes that grabs you from the first note. Disco songs were some of the better produced of all types of Top 40. Unfortunately, the disco culture was admittedly hedonistic and interestingly enough the tendency during those days of well-dressed and attractive females in judging a man's worthiness by his looks and dancing prowess intimidated and angered many a young man who failed to measure up to one or both standards. A number of influential radio programmers fell into that category and although they secretly liked the music, publicly relegated all but the biggest selling disco songs to obscurity by not playing them on the radio after disco's dominance on the charts came to an end. All of which is just one man's opinion. Care to comment? |
