Subject: Sir Alan Rich - Come On Down!

Message Detail:
What I wrote in a newsletter. I give credit where credit is due! Actually, not that I doubt you, but when I found a UK "hit" CD and questioned some Soul "hits" I never heard of, it supported what you told me, about later 70's hits in the UK, but 60's hits in the US!...

Finding Great Music
Forget radio, it's discriminating. Besides, US radio caters US Hits. No
surprise. I always enjoy finding songs on import CDs, that I never heard
before, allowing me to judge them. For example, I thought the song, by
(The) Darkness, "I Believe In A Thing Called Love", (as McCartney joked
about American dialect), is "pretty darn good", but I couldn't even find
Darkness in my Billboard/Joel Whitburn US Top 40 Hit book. However,
Rolling Stone Magazine rated their album within Top 50, for 2003. Alan
Rich, from the UK, informed me the song scored #2 in the UK. A bit heavy
on electric guitars (Hard Rock Pop/Heavy Metal) and echo, but I still
like it; a great composition. Bob Ludwig, at Gateway Mastering, would
flip over its loudness...
