Subject: Bob Wouldn't Play This - Marvin Hamlisch - The Entertainer - 1974

Message Detail:

Bob Wouldn't Play This, at least not this version!

As you may know, I seek the oddities in US Top 40 music, I live for it. This version is "(P) 1974 Geffen Records"; surfaced in the US on the MCA Records label. First time I ever heard it without any accompaniment. If you can't play the snippet, it's just Marvin Hamlisch at the piano. Published outside the US by Universal Music Japan. Could it be the soundtrack version or album version? Would seem odd, in monophonic. Maybe the accompaniment was added later? I never saw "The Sting" movie, where the song was featured! Any help appreciated and I do give credit!

Thank You!

Happy Holidays!

John (NJ)
p.s. I once thought Universal Music was publishing a remake of another US Top 40 hit, but was pleasantly surprised to discover what happened behind the scenes, per se'!
