Subject: RE: Sir Cliff has released more than four times as many singles as the Fab Four

Message Detail:
Quite right - they were formed in 1968 and are still touring 43 years later!

They are still huge in Germany - and although only a one hit wonder in the US - have had a couple more in the UK.

Still, shows you can make a comfortable living out of one or so hits, for the rest of your life.

Question is - who wins the prize for having the most singles released, withont one of them ever making the US Hot 100 or the US Country Top 100?

Don't ask me - I do not know the answer, but some years back, I remember this question being posed on a radio show.

The only clue was that the act in question had something like 40 singles released, without one of them ever charting.

Trouble is - the answer was due the following week, and I forgot to tune in.

So unless somebody here knows - I will remain in ignorance.

I am not so much interested in who the act was - but I would love to know the name(s) of the label(s) who released forty consecutive flops!

Although having said that - I remember once being told that the top labels in the 60's, were in profit if just over 9% of their releases, charted.

Imagine telling your boss - what are you complaining about, I only get it wrong 91% of the time?
