Message Detail:
The song that Jim Carrey did portraying Andy Kaufman in the film played at Andy's funeral in the 1999 movie "Man on the Moon" is one and the same as the #26 record on your 1/16/60 countdown--"This Friendly World."

In this friendly, friendly world,
With each day so full of joy.
Why should any heart be lonely.
In this friendly, friendly world,
With each night so full of dreams,
Why should any here be afraid?
The world is such a wonderful place to wander through
When you've got someone you love to wander along with you
With the sky so full of stars,
And the river so full of song (follow the bouncing ball!)
Every heart should be so thankful
Thankful for this friendly, friendly world.

I always assumed Kaufman himself wrote it, since so much of his comedy reflected the Pleasantville-like innocence and security of the late '50s and early '60s. Mighty Mouse, Howdy Doody, milk and cookies, goofin' on Elvis. And, unknown to me until now, Fabian. Sadly, a song more true then than now. Not that there's no longer a bright side out there; you just have to force yourself to look at it sometimes.

Jeff
