The founder and original lead singer of The Coasters passed away in his Florida home last Sunday. Carl was still performing up until about five years ago. His son has since taken over the group, which is managed by Carl's wife. Carl was one of the prominent artists from the 50's that fought a continual battle to keep the many bogus Coasters acts from cashing in on the songs that his group made famous.
Unfortunately, the number of 50's artists are dwindling each year, and soon all of rock's pioneers will no longer be with us.
