I just listened to part one of Bob's latest countdown, the June, 1963 countdown. He ended it with a Connie Francis song, and mentioned it was a crime that she was not in the R&R HOF. For sure, Connie, aa well as a bunch of others that have been excluded. Every year they seem to add artists that had minimal impact on the history of rock but leave out those that did. Think of the following: Chicago - 44 years, still going strong with most of original lineup, introduced horns to rock, NOT IN! Doobie Brothers - hits throughout two decades, still together with two original lead singers - NOT IN! Neil Sedaka - not only had hits that he wrote throughout three decades, but wrote numberous hits for other artists - NOT IN! These are just a few examples of artists that have had a profound impaact on rock and pop music, but for whatever reason, have not been voted in to the HOF. |
