Jim, I agree, that Harry Chapin had it right in WOLD. I have never been in radio like some here, but have talked to some who have. For every Dick Biondi or Larry Lujack, there were a bunch of jocks making very little money, doing voice overs, sock hops, whatever it took to make a living. Stations would change formats and the jocks were replaced. Today, it seems the "thing" is to have canned music, no jocks, anything to save money for the big corporations that now own a lot of these stations. About two years ago here in Indy, we lost our last independent radio station, one that played oldies from the 60's - 80's. The new corporate owner ditched that format from day one. That goodness for web sites like Bob's here that keep this music alive, since it is more and more difficult to hear it on commerical stations.
