The idea that an act might be huge sbroad but not in its own country, is worth looking at.... How about Isn Whitcomb & Bluesville from Dublin, who made the US Top 10 in 1965 with "Your Turn Me On" but failed to make the Itish Top 30 with that (or any other) song? Or Chad & Jeremy, who managed 11 hits in the USA in the 1960's but just one (reached 37) in their native England? Or The Drifters, who had no hits in the USA between 1966 and 1979, but managed no fewer than 14 in the UK during the same period? And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Worth a study? |
