John wrote.... I guess with The Association, Warner Bros. bought Valliant Records or whatever name they appeared on originally! Neat to see one of the tape boxes with notes, like "Transfer to WB". Jim replied.... Dead right. Valiant was set up by the songwriter Barry DeVorzon (of Barry & Tamerlanes fame + lots of TV themes like "The Young & The Restless" + "Dreaming" for Johnny Burnette). He sold it to Warners around 1967 although Warners had been distributing the label since the day it was set up anyway. I have around a dozen Valiant 45s in my collection - I liked Barry & The Tamerlanes in particular, and of course everybody liked The Association. |
