Jim, LPFM can go a lot farther than 3.5 miles depending on the terrain. However, the allocations will be for non-commercial radio stations. Here in the states, the licensing agency (FCC) for a time were allowing daytime AM stations to apply for an FM translator. They are in effect the same as an LPFM, many times with less power, but with appropriate height serve nicely as a fill-in 24 hour alternative to the aforementioned AM's. Bob |
