I bought the CD/album with "Where You When I Needed You", had two slightly different versions. But what separates that song from most other later hits is its superior sound quality. I gather, since some later songs contained horns and other added treats, a lot of it was pieced together, rather than being live, real-time recordings. Although, hey, still nice songs! Not to pick on The Grass Roots, as this method of creating songs was more common than not. I have to assume whatever is left of their songs is from master tapes, not session tapes, where they could be remastered!
